As a Cosmetology or Esthetics student, a choice must be made between attending school either Part time or Full time. There are benefits to either option, depending on your circumstances. Lets take a look at the pros and cons for each option.
The best part about part time schedule is having flexibility for other things in your life. You may have part time work to support your finances during your time in Cosmetology or Esthetics School. Or you may have families and loved ones to attend to in your everyday life. Depending on how much time you can dedicate to your education, part time could be a great option. It would be amazing if you can get a job at a salon or spa that you aspire to work at after schooling, as you can see the things you learn from school in action at the salon or spa.
Unfortunately having flexibility in your schedule means it will be a longer process to complete your hours. Both Cosmetology and Esthetics Licenses require completion of hours assigned by the state. If you are in a hurry to get your license and start working, part time may not be quick enough for you.
Being a full time student means dedicating as much time to your schooling to complete your hours. This shortens the completion of program significantly by months. If you are financially stable and able to dedicate your time, I would always recommend full time to get it done quickly.
Dedicating all your time to your education may possibly mean taking time away from things that are important to you. If you have young children or families to look after, you may want to opt for part time so you can spend more time with your family. If you need to keep a part time job to support yourself financially, again, part time may be an option for you.
