Have you ever wondered how to keep your hair happy and healthy?
Look no further! There are a few basic, but important, routine steps you could take that can ensure your hair is living up to its true potential.
How Often Should You Actually Cut Your Hair:
Probably the most repetitive advice to give, yet the most crucial, is to routinely get your hair trimmed. If you prefer your hair to be short, it’s advised to get a trim every 4 to 8 weeks, and medium to long hair is recommended every 6 to 12 weeks. This step is provided first in my repertoire of tips because it aids in hair growth. When damaged hair and split ends are consistently removed, the root promotes more growth, and with softer and more flexible hair, breakage is prevented. Everybody wins!
Scalp Care:
First and foremost, when shampooing, be mindful of where the bulk of your product is going. Shampoo is meant to cleanse the scalp of excess oil, but overuse results in drying out your hair. The essential oils your scalp creates keep hair moisturized and healthy, with that sought after natural luster. The recommended frequency of washes varies on the texture of an individual’s hair, but once or twice a week is usually best for most people.
Another important, yet behind the scenes character of hair health, is diet. Hair cells absolutely love iron, protein, and vitamins, as they need these nutrients to grow. This is also where that natural luster comes into play. Iron-rich foods, protein-rich foods, and water ensure healthy skin, nails, and, you guessed it, hair.
