When I first attended Cosmetology School, I had no idea what the Beauty Industry entailed, specifically in the cosmetology field. It is mind blowing to find out about all the different services offered, career options, and how much dedication it requires. I would love to share some of those discoveries over the course of 20 years in the Cosmetology industry.
What do we learn in Cosmetology School? First thing that comes to mind for most people in regards to Cosmetology training is Hair Cutting, Styling, and Hair Coloring. This is definitely something the majority of hairdressers do and perform in the salon. On top of that, most Beauty Schools will teach Perms (Permanent Waving), Keratin Smoothing Treatments, Hair & Lash Extensions, all types of Conditioning Treatments, and more! As the industry evolves, The Salon Professional Academy Ft Myers is committed to adding curriculums that are either required by state, or by a need or trend in the industry.
You might think, “that’s a lot of hair services that I don’t necessarily want to offer in the salon…” However, it is SO important to be in Cosmetology Training and learn all aspects of it, so you can learn what services you love and want to continue offering. Not many people love doing a perm, but there is a need for it, and it may come back with a different twist next time around, so we need every student to learn it. Whether that’s offered in the salon is up to the salon and the stylist. Try everything, so you know what you are good at, or passionate about.
Cosmetology requirements are based on hours. So our full time students will finish the program sooner than ones that are part time. Part time allows you time to work, so those that need to keep income coming in during school, this is a great option. There are scholarships, financial aids, and grants available for many that qualify. Please send any questions or inquiries to Brittany at admissions@tspaftmyers.com
With much love,
